Emmaus South Wales helps Companions by providing them with a home, meaningful work opportunities and the support they need to get their lives back on track. However alongside that, we also support our local community and the people within it.

Solidarity

One of the most important parts of the Emmaus ethos is 'solidarity'. This means working to help someone less fortunate than yourself. This can be very valuable for Emmaus Companions, as it is often key to helping rebuild self-esteem, proving that everyone has the capacity to make a difference to the lives of others.

Emmaus South Wales' acts of solidarity vary from month to month. However, we regularly support other local charities with food packages from donated food; as well as donating clothing and furniture to the most vulnerable people in the community by working alongside other local organisations.

Companions also choose to support other projects across the world such as the Moldova Project. This ensures items we aren't able to sell in our shops can have a positive impact on someone's life. Read more .

School Engagement

We have recently visited a number of local schools including Maes yr Haul Primary School and Bryntirion Comprehensive School. Both schools are located less than a 15 minute walk away from our Community home, Nant Lais! During our visits, we discuss with pupils the stigmas of homelessness and what Emmaus South Wales does as a local homeless charity.

At Emmaus, we feel it is really important to educate everyone in the community about our services so we can support as many people as possible. We are happy to carry out talks or workshops to schools, clubs and organisations across South Wales about what we do.
