- Are you or someone you know homeless or at risk of homelessness?

- Are you looking for a supportive place to call home, with opportunities for work experience?

- Are you are a referral agency, friend or family member working with someone who needs a home?

If so, Emmaus South Wales offers a safe environment and support to people in dealing with the many issues surrounding homelessness, enabling them to regain control of their lives by living and working alongside others.

How does it work?

"A bed and a reason to get out of it"

Companions (as residents are known) live together in the Emmaus South Wales Community home, Nant Lais. They receive accommodation (their own room with en-suite), food and clothing in addition to a small weekly allowance and leaving savings. In order to live in an Emmaus Community, Companions must sign off all benefits except housing benefit (which goes towards running the home) and agree to participate in the life and work of the Community, to the best of their abilities. However for many, the greatest benefit is a fresh start, giving them something to live for.

Valuable work experience

In order for Companions to live in the Community home they must work full time (or as much as they are able) in our social enterprise, collecting and reselling donated goods to sell in our shops. All of the profits made in our shops supports the Community home Nant Lais and enables Companions to develop skills, rebuild their self-respect and help others in greater need through solidarity.

The Community Team are willing to accept referrals and applications from people who present with complex problems, providing they are ready to work on rebuilding themselves.

If you feel you or someone you know could benefit from a place at Emmaus South Wales, please download the Companion application form. The form may appear lengthy, but it is essential that we get as much information as possible to make sure the assessment process is as smooth as possible.
