This week Emmaus South Wales Companions and staff visited the Bridgend Foodbank's distribution hub in Pyle, to collect food items for the Community home. Using the Community van, they made the trip to Pyle to collect the donated food.

Emmaus South Wales supporter and former treasurer Amelia Cavaghan currently volunteers for the Bridgend Foodbank and has organised a regular donation to Emmaus South Wales. Amelia understands the impact food donations have on our Community home and the Companions we support; and was keen for the Foodbank to support a local homeless charity.

Pasta donated to Emmaus

Amelia explained that the foodbank mainly donates 'three day' food packages for people to get back on their feet. Therefore, large catering packs of things like tea, rice and pasta are more suited to charities like Emmaus.

The Foodbank's distribution centre in Pyle kindly donated numerous amounts of items to the Emmaus South Wales Community including beans, tinned pies, tea bags, rice, tinned curries and porridge.

The food was gratefully received by all of our Companions and staff in the Community home and will ensure all of the 14 Companions living in Nant Lais have access to three healthy meals a day.

Emmaus South Wales would like to thank the Bridgend Foodbank for their support as well as the local community who donate food and other items to them.
