About us Archive news stories Emmaus South Wales Community becomes Dementia Friends Companions and staff from the Emmaus South Wales Community have recently become 'Dementia Friends' after undergoing an informative session run by Dementia Friends, an Alzheimer’s Society initiative. During the session, a local 'Dementia Friends Champion' spoke to the group about the stigmas of dementia and how we can change those stigmas together. Dementia was explained in a way that everyone could understand, ensuring that we all could make a positive difference to people living with dementia. At the end of the session, everyone was encouraged to become a Dementia Friend and make a pledge of action. The actions didn't have to be big or time-consuming. It could be something as simple as supporting someone you know with dementia to do day to day things or to being more patient when serving a customer, every action counts! It was a brilliant session and we urge every business and charity to become Dementia Friends so we can change the stigmas of dementia! Become a Dementia Friend!
