About us Archive news stories Companions cook early Christmas lunch for Brynmenyn Hostel staff Emmaus South Wales Companions and Community staff team invited the staff from The Brynmenyn Family Hostel to Nant Lais, our Community home for Christmas lunch last week. After hearing that the staff from the hostel would be working on Christmas day, Companions wanted to ensure they enjoyed a Christmas meal, even if it was a bit early! The Companions decorated the Community and cooked a fantastic three course Christmas lunch for the hostel staff, which compromised of a smoked salmon starter, a turkey dinner with all the trimmings for the main and a homemade cherry trifle for desert. Vegetarian options were also available which were delicious. There was a great atmosphere around the table, with Companions sharing how Emmaus has helped them and staff from the hostel sharing how they help their service users. Our Community has been supporting the hostel for some time through solidarity. Companions often re-donate any surplus food that has been donated by local businesses to them. This ensures as many people in need benefit from the food donations and also that nothing goes to waste. It was a fantastic lunch and lovely for the Companions and our Community to think about others this Christmas. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
