About us Archive news stories Bridgend Foodbank supports Emmaus Community Recently Emmaus South Wales Companions visited the Bridgend Foodbank's distribution hub in Pyle, to collect food items for the Community home. The Companions used the Community van to make the trip to Pyle and to transport the donated food back to Nant Lais. Emmaus South Wales supporter and former treasurer Amelia Cavaghan currently volunteers for the Bridgend Foodbank and organised the donation to Emmaus South Wales. Amelia understands the impact food donations have on our Community home and the Companions we support; and was keen for the Foodbank to support a local homeless charity. Amelia explained how the Foodbank distribution hub operates and also demonstrated how they sort various food donations based on nutritional value. Did you know that one of the most frequently donated items to the Foodbank is baked beans? The Foodbank's distribution centre in Pyle kindly donated three boxes full of beans, one box of noodles, two boxes of tinned pies, one box of tea bags as well as rice, hotdogs and tinned curries to the Emmaus South Wales Community. The food was gratefully received by all of our Companions and staff in the Community home and will ensure all of the 17 Companions living in Nant Lais have access to three healthy meals a day. Emmaus South Wales would like to thank the Bridgend Foodbank for their support as well as the local community who donate food and other items to them. Do you want to donate to your local food bank?
