Do you want to raise money for charity?

Are you looking to fundraise for a local charity either on your own, with your family, in school or perhaps in your workplace? Are you struggling for ideas on what activities you could do to raise money? Look no further, we have created this short blog with 5 fun fundraising ideas.

In this blog, we will highlight 5 of these fundraising ideas to get you on your way to raising as much money as possible for charity.

1. Dress down/non school uniform day

This one might not be the most interesting ways to fundraise, but it is one way to get out of wearing a suit for the day at work whilst raising money. For those of you in school, ditch the school uniform and wear your own clothes for the day (with permission from your school of course). Then all you have to do is pay £1, £2 or more if you are feeling extra generous for the luxury. All the money raised on the day can then go to support a deserving charity.

2. Give it up day

Many of the people Emmaus South Wales support have had to go without lots of things during the past. Things that we often take for granted. How long could you go without your phone, a takeaway, sugary snack or social media? Why not give something up for a day, week or month and donate the money you save to charity. Or get your friends, family or colleagues to sponsor you!

3. Football Tournament

Ever wanted to beat your teacher or boss at a game of football? Well this could be the opportunity... Why not challenge your boss, peers or teachers to a 5 aside football tournament and let the competition commence. Each team pays to enter and spectators pay a £1 to watch, with all the money raised going to charity. Fun and worthwhile!

4. Climb a mountain

Do you love the outdoors? Are you wanting to set yourself a personal challenge or work as a team to achieve something great? Why not complete one of natures challenges and climb a mountain.

Many of the people we support have had to overcome massive hurdles and obstacles in their lives which can often feel like a real uphill battle. By climbing a mountain and challenging yourself you will be able to empathise with the people you are supporting, experiencing a hurdle in a different way. By successfully completing a tough challenge like climbing a mountain you will be able to show that you can overcome hurdles and achieve something positive.

There are many mountains in Wales. Why not start off by climbing Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales standing at 886m seen in the picture below. If you're feeling more adventurous there is also Cadair Idris or even Wales' highest peak, Snowdon!

5. Skydive

If you are feeling extra adventurous and really want to challenge yourself, why not complete a sky dive. It is an amazing experience, not for the faint hearted. If you're feeling up to the challenge,  raise money for Emmaus South Wales whilst doing it. Many sky diving companies will let you sky dive for free, providing you raise a certain amount for your chosen charity. It’s a no brainer really!
